Kris has lived in Anchorage since 1964, and her interest in pottery started in 1974. She worked in stained glass as well, but ultimately chose pottery because “It didn’t cut you!” She attended UAA in the early 80’s, and opened her first studio in 1989. Kris brings her love of color to her pottery by using a magnificent selection of glazes which contain variances of cobalt, copper, and various other elements.

Kris creates a unique "foot" on the bottom of her bowls. They have a cutout arch at 3 points around the bottom, and
because of this, many of her items can be displayed beautifully on a table or shelf when not inuse as serving
pieces. Not all items can be displayed this way, especially some of the "flare" bowl if their rim is too wide. The very
small pieces don't have this feature, and only possess a plain round "foot".
Kris's pottery is food and dishwasher safe!
